Summer 2019

The University of Northern Iowa intends to offer two courses during the summer of 2019.

  • Foundational Concepts in Computer Science – Intended for secondary teachers who are or will be teaching a computer science course.   This course is a broad overview of a variety of foundational topics in computer science including computer architecture, databases, networking, and artificial intelligence.  It is designed to provide secondary computer science teachers with enough information to support an AP CSP style course and to give programming teachers a background in the overall discipline of CS.  It is one of the five courses in our sequence towards the newly approved Computer Science endorsement on the Iowa teaching license.
  • Intro to Programming with Scratch – Intended for teachers of all disciplines K-12 who want to learn how to program with Scratch and consider ways to incorporate Scratch into their classroom.
